Legal Strikes... Hands: Can punch all
parts of the body, arms, legs and head. No punching to the groin or behind the head. Legs: Can kick all parts of the
body arm, legs and head. No kicking to the groin of behind the head. Elbows: Can strike all parts of the body arms,legs
and head. No 180 degree elbow strikes can be used. Knees: Can strike all parts of the body arms, legs and head. Clinching,
pulling, pushing, turning and cutting angle of opponent to set up knee strikes or to defend knee strikes are allowed. If either
fighter loses balance and falls during the execution of these techniques there is no foul and the fallen fighter is not counted.
No knee strikes to the groin.
Scoring...
Scoring is based on a 10 point must system, with a round winner receiving the 10 points and the loser 9 points. If there is
a knockdown or a standing eight count then the loser has another point deducted giving an 8 point for that round. If the bout
is fought to completion the scores for each combatant are totaled and the one with the most points is the winner. If the scores
are equal it to be declared as a draw.
Muay Thai fighters are judged on : Correct style combined with hard accurate strikes, aggressiveness, dominating of
the Muay Thai skills, actively dominating an opponent and the uses of a traditional style of defense counter attacks.
Fouls.. The following are fouls in Muay Thai
and penalized by the deduction of one point from the fighter's score. A fighter who has been hit in the groin may request
a five-minute break before continuing the match. No submission techniques(arm bar, choking etc.) No throwing, judo
sweeping or takedown No head butting No biting No stepping on the feet of toes No holding and hitting No punching, kicking, elbow strikes or knee strikes are allowed until the referee resumes action. No hitting in
the groin.
Muay Thai Weight Divisions.. A fighter must weigh at least 100 pounds to be recognized as
a 18 of the Muay Thai weight classes.
